Time for another classic cupcake recipe!$




  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup sliced maraschino cherries
  • 2 TBSP. flour
  • Icing sugar



Stir flour, baking powder and salt together in a bowl. Cream shortening in another bowl. Gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add in eggs, one at a time, beating well with each addition. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Beat only until smooth. Dredge cherries in the 2 TBSP. of flour. Fold cherries into batter. Scoop batter into prepared cupcake cups. Bake at 350degrees F for 20-25 minutes. Top cupcakes with sifted icing sugar, or frost as desired.
